Plastic straws are hurting the environment. In fact, 500 million plastic straws are thrown away every day in just the U.S. The World Economic Forum projects that by the year 2050, the plastic in our oceans will outweigh the fish.
Giving up straws isn't the answer. Straws can keep your teeth from getting stained by things like soda, coffee, and tea. They can also reduce exposure of acidic drinks, like orange juice, keeping your enamel strong for longer and preventing cavities and decay. Not to mention, it's way more hygienic to put your mouth on a straw than directly on a glass or can. And not everyone can drink a beverage without a straw – young children, elderly citizens, and those with disabilities may need to use a straw in order to hydrate.
But, let's face it. Alternatives to plastic straws, well, suck! Metal straws add a metallic flavor to anything you sip and paper straws melt in your mouth. And, those compostable straws often end up in landfills anyway because they need to be composted under very specific conditions, and many places do not yet have the facilities to compost them.
Brooklyn Bamboo Company provides an eco-friendly and stylish alternative without that chemical, paper, or plastic taste. Our straws are 100% bamboo, which is a fast growing and renewable resource. These straws are reusable and easy to clean with the nylon cleaning brush. Make a switch to this environmentally-friendly straw.
