Head designer, Alfred Stadler, comes from the interior and furniture world and continues to engage in custom interiors as well as designing or upholstering furniture. At a young age, Alfred was introduced to artisanal craftsmanship with a top saddle maker building custom saddles for Olympic dressage riders. Here he learned the qualities of fine leathers and wool felt as well as the techniques of modeling and sewing these materials. What followed was an impressive professional experience in Switzerland and North America. Alfred was a member of the DeSede design team. Later, he became head designer of Swiss Seats and built a new furniture collection. For Ruckstuhl, a high-end carpeting company, he worked extensively with felt and introduced the use of felt for interior applications for walls, ceilings and cabinet linings. Alfred later became Director of Vitra Home North America strengthening the company’s presence and sales in the U.S. As a proponent of heirloom and quality-made products, Alfred teaches leather craftsmanship classes where he shares his knowledge of leathers, textiles, specialized tools and stitching techniques. He also opens his studio to the public through private appointments or organized tours.
