Trendy Dumbo's cobblestone streets and converted Brooklyn warehouse buildings are the backdrop for independent boutiques, high-end restaurants and trendy cafes. Near the waterfront, in a former tobacco factory, is the heart of a thriving performance and gallery scene. The north end of Brooklyn Bridge Park features historic Jane’s Carousel as well as picturesque views of the Manhattan skyline.
Sustainability is a key part in this advanced and stylish neighborhood of Dumbo as Brooklyn Bridge Park recently went through a complete transformation offering a green stretch of park and recreation for the community, and for anyone lucky enough to visit. They repurpose, reuse and recycle materials to craft new amenities and habitats, while staying as green as possible, respecting the environment and Mother Nature along the way. So if you happen to sit on a bench by Pier 1, note that it is from rot-resistant Longleaf Yellow Pine that was salvaged from the Cold Storage Buildings nearby. As for the beautiful granite surrounding the Pier 3 area, it was repurposed from 2 local bridges. Whether swanky or stylish, you are sure to find an amazing restaurant in Dumbo with a stunning view as you partake in some “people watching”, a favorite pastime in Brooklyn!
