Power House 8th is located on 8th Avenue in Park Slope and it takes just 2 minutes from 7th Ave station on foot. The bookstore has a nice ambience with displaying some nice pictures. 

Although the space is small and not huge number of books are sold like big bookstores, any books in the store are really nice.

Indeed, the bookstore has gotten nice reputations from many customers.

If anything, Power House 8th focuses on children. The half of the store’s space (from the register to the end) is used for selling books for kids. According to the staff, the bookstore is nearby school and they work with school many times.   
In addition, Power House 8th gives children some nice opportunities like discussion and talking with authors. Through the discussion, they can share each idea or perspective about the book with each other. So, they can understand the book more deeply.
Talking with authors is also a great experience to understand books deeply. Authors know their books more than anybody. With their own intentions and ideas, they come up with stories and write books. Talking with such people could be the best opportunity to greatly understand books.

Getting such great opportunities, children can know about reading books deeply and thus they can enjoy reading. In recent years, fewer young people tend to read books. But, bookstores like Power House 8th can minimize the tendency.

This time, I would like to introduce the products of RIVERET, which is now available at Brooklyn Beauty / Fashion Labo.
RIVERET is a Japanese brand that manufactures and sells bamboo products made from natural Moso bamboo.


Nakayoshi Shoji Co., LTD, the operator of RIVERET, grows and manages the bamboo in its own bamboo mountain in China.

Thus, the product safety is ensured at the highest level, passing tests for harmful substances, for example.
In addition, Moso bamboo itself has sustainable characteristics. It does not require chemical fertilizers because of its short growth cycle of three to five years, and it does not require afforestation because it grows by underground stems. This makes it possible to grow them on the minimum amount of land necessary, and their fast growth speed has the effect of reducing deforestation.

Once again, I will introduce one of the products available at Brooklyn Beauty / Fashion Labo. This time, I would like to introduce children's tableware from Reale.
One of the features of Reale is that the material used is biomass plastic made from bamboo, rather than the plastic that has been commonly used for tableware.
Biomass plastics are different from ordinary plastics in several ways. They are: biomass plastics eventually broken down into carbon dioxide and water by microorganisms, biomass plastics do not contain chlorine, and the burning temperature is about the same as that of paper. In other words, Reale's tableware is an environmentally friendly product. Another feature is that bamboo has excellent antibacterial and antiviral properties. In other words, it is safe for children to use.

Surprisingly, it was a man who commercialized this product. The developer, Hiroaki Sagara, had doubts about the child-care environment in Japan, in which only the perspective of mothers is considered.
