"Whole Foods" is a familiar natural food store, as you may have been there at least once.
The one located in Park Slope, Brooklyn, has an interesting facility.
It is an urban farm called "Gotham Greens".

Fresh vegetables such as arugula and romaine lettuce are grown year-round in the 20,000 square feet of greenhouses on the Whole Foods rooftop.

It's overwhelming to see such a large green house not too far from urban Manhattan.

Green houses of Gotham Greens use the latest technology to control data and manage the indoor environment.

It also uses less energy, land, and water than conventional farming methods, allowing for efficient harvesting while reducing the impact on the environment, and the energy is collected from the sun and wind.

The power of nature and technology have made urban farming a reality.

Gotham Greens not only grows vegetables sustainably, but also focuses on connecting with the community.
From the rooftop of a large supermarket, Gotham Greens provides opportunities for Brooklynites to enjoy life, work, and learn about nature through farming.

Brooklyn is famous for respecting uniqueness. Arts show it because many unique art works have been created. Also, People in this district are engaging in sustainable development by unique ways. This Blog is always reporting them as topics. Leroy’s Place might be one of the best examples as it has created unique arts with sustainability.
Leroy’s Place is located on 7th Avenue in Park Slope and it takes just 3 minutes from 7th Ave station. According to the founder, Serene, it has 4 artists to make art works and a studio for community events like music and dance performances.

Serene told me why they started this business. They were used to have video works and had built large set pieces and large puppets. Then, they became interested in creating a unique space. So, they started this business.

In the store, there are many unique art gifts like pictures.

Serene said that they are handmade and designed by independent artists. According to her, each of them has uniqueness and thus everything is very popular.

 Also, in the store, there are a lot of interesting art works like puppets and a chair. Customers can enjoy using the puppets and sitting the chair and taking photos of it.

Moreover, these art works are good for sustainability

Serene told these art works are made of recycle materials like cardboards.

So, in Leroy’s Place, you can enjoy their sustainable art works and buy unique art gifts. I think this store might be one of the places where I recommend the most because Brooklyn is famous for unique art works and engaging in sustainability.

Sustainable Vegan Coffee House for everyone

Are you looking for a sustainable, vegan coffee house in Brooklyn? Principles GI Coffee House is your perfect choice.

As the name suggests, Ms. Bishop’s coffee house has strong principles that reflect her own moral values and dedication to sustainability and social impact.  
To achieve an ambitious goal of eliminating coffee cup waste by 2023, Principles continuously tracks their single-use cup usage and encourages customers to use their own containers. Additionally, this shop is powered by solar energy.

(“Chatting with Katie and other folks while sipping her delicious hot coffee is my favorite time,” one of the regulars at Principles told me.)

But this unique queer-veteran-owned coffee shop offers more than you imagine. 
Located in Gowanus - the neighbourhood in which the level of class and race is deeply intergrated - Principles creates a comforting space for people marginalized in the community. 
“This place is for everyone,” as Ms. Bishop described it, this coffee house creates a comforting space for people marginalized in the community to linger in as they appreciate the delicious cup of coffee. 

What makes Principles more accessible and welcoming is a pay-what-you-wish system for their basic menu.
Customers can pay based on what they are willing to pay or what they can afford. 
“I’m happy when anyone takes advantage of it,” Ms. Bishop said. “I am as happy for someone to pay $10 as someone to pay $1 or nothing because to me it just demonstrates people are using what I’m offering and that’s what is there for.”

(Ms. Bishop tries to reach out to people underrepresented in the biking world. There is a section that offers tools for repairs at the corner of the store.)

(Principles also hosts events for everyone who wants to gather and partake in the community.)
