An award winning New York based digital photographer. Jeff Watts has been creating photo-art for over 30 years showing and selling his work at local galleries and on-line venues. His body of work ranges from bridges and landscapes to street photography capturing the human condition. His work is usually recognizable by the artistic interpretation and innovative style he incorporates to create the scenes and subjects with abstract qualities to engage the viewer to look a bit closer and evoke an emotional response.
From a photographic style perspective, he uses post processing techniques to enhance and enrich his images to bring out more dramatic or subtle effects to create his photo-art. Similar to a painter sketching out an image on a canvas, he views the photographic process as the first or foundational step in creating the ultimate image. The second step is utilizing basic photo editing tools to enhance for effect. The final step, presentation, involves choosing the right matting and framing to compliment the overall image.
He exhibits his photos wherever possible and enjoys actively exchanging ideas on photography with other artists. He is a member of the Rockaway Artist Alliance [RAA], the Brooklyn Waterfront Artist Coalition [BWAC] and the Williamsburg Art & Historical Center [WAH] and shows and sells his work throughout the year at their galleries. His work also graces the walls of a number of business offices in Manhattan throughout the year and he has shown and sold his work at the prestigious Salmagundi Art Club in Greenwich Village.
Although having traveled extensively throughout the world, he finds New York to be the most exciting place to photograph. A true lover of the medium, he is intrigued by the fact that photography captures a unique moment in time which is never to be repeated. He also finds that being a photographer, makes him more aware of his visual surroundings and more attentive to light, color, shape and shadow in his everyday life.
