PARK SLOPE
#peaceful #ethical #sophisticated

Park Slope is a name-brand Brooklyn neighborhood known for its organic food markets and picturesque, pedestrian-friendly sidewalks.  Prospect Park, charming cafes, and plenty of public amenities contribute to this kid-friendly neighborhood's small-town vibe.  In addition, it is known for its expensive brownstones, and its proximity to an array of culture, like the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Academy of Music, the central branch of the Brooklyn Public Library, as well as the beauty of Prospect Park, and the lovely Brooklyn Botanic Gardens.  You will notice the historical names of the streets along your journey, like Lincoln, Berkeley, Union, and Garfield.  Upscale amenities in the heart of Brooklyn, minus the late night noise, this peaceful and sophisticated town boasts pet-friendly sidewalks, plenty of outdoor space, with a casual upscale dining and drinking scene.  Most of all, you’re bound to fall in love with the views along the scenic Brooklyn Heights Promenade and the pace and diverse activity options.  Thanks to the enduring architectural and greenspace appeal, Park Slope has a reputation for natural beauty and a modern lifestyle.  In general, life in Park Slope feels more suburban and well-established than other parts of Brooklyn.  Tree-lined sidewalks, manicured stoop-front gardens, and a community-wide love for gathering spots and greenery are among the natural perks of living here.   Writers, artists, and other creatives love Park Slope for the pace, which is relatively slower than you’ll find in other central Brooklyn neighborhoods.  Cafes and wine shops, as well as book cafes, cater to happy hour crowds and linger-all-day creatives alike.   Let’s not forget the home of our very own Brooklyn Beauty/Fashion Labo where you can casually shop sustainable wares and fashion, as well as beauty and wellness including the entire BBFL 7 Aroma product line!  Dinobu grocery store carries a variety of Japanese ingredients and prepared goods and we are happy to offer them in our store for you!  Park Slope’s nightlife is a balanced mix of cozy dives and wine bars, specializing in locally-brewed beer and live music.  On any given night, Union Hall is packed with residents playing bocce ball or catching a late night improv act or cover band.
Park Slope should be a model community for sustainability and responsible stewardship;  It advocates for responsible use of natural resources in the community and promotes better practices for the environment.

Park Slope is a neighborhood made up of Prospect Park and the slope leading to it. Prospect Park is a large park located on the east side of Park Slope created by Calvert Vaux and his partner Frederick Law Olmsted in 1867, two years after the termination of the Civil War. At the time, there were only a few parks like this in the United States, such as Central Park in Manhattan, which opened in 1859, and it was unusual compared to European cities where many parks existed. Americans who longed for a European “life near a park” dreamed of living near a park such as Prospect Park West.

In the 1880s and 1890s, many Victorian mansions were built in Prospect Park West with amazing park views. In 1883, the Brooklyn Bridge was completed, connecting Brooklyn and Manhattan, and plethora of brick houses and brownstones were built. Today, brownstone houses remain in Park Slope making the area by Prospect Park designated as the Park Slope Historic District by the New York Landmarks Preservation Commission. Also, the Grand Army Plaza at the north end of the park is home to the Battle of Long Island, one of the major battles of the Revolutionary War. There, stands a triumphal arch, the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Arch, commemorating the Union Army from the Civil War.
Park Slope, arguably the most historic area of Brooklyn, continues to attract people from all around the city.

If you are fortunate enough to visit Brooklyn be sure to take a tour of Park Slope, including Prospect Park, and the beautiful brownstones lining the neighborhoods. where you will feel the long history of the neighborhood.
