Launched in 2011 in NYC, XSILK is a artisanal design & craft studio focusing on hand dyed and hand painted textiles. XSILK produces garments and accessories using time-tested traditional processes with a modern sensibility. Each piece is crafted individually, and often is a one-of-a-kind piece.
Headed by Dani Song, XSILK got started with a simple goal - make beautiful things well and responsibly. All products are made and dyed locally in New York City. XSILK dyes in a eco conscious way by using the safest method of dyeing available to reduce waste and leave less carbon foot print. XSILK leather goods are made with leather hand dyed with natural indigo using “Katazome” technique. Katazome is a traditional Japanese dyeing method using hand cut stencil, rice glue(dye resist) and natural indigo.
XSILK operates on "made-to-order" mode of production so to keep their waste to minimal.
